The Crescent Moon of the Month of Jumada al-Awwal, 1440 A.H.

On behalf of the Shia Muslim Council of Southern California, we would like to announce that the first day of Jumada al-Awwal 1440 AH will be Tuesday, January 8th, 2019. The crescent moon was not sighted during sunset on Sunday, January 6th, 2019 in North America.

Key dates for the Month of Jumada al-Awwal

  • 5th Jumada al-Awwal (Jan. 12th) – Birth of Sayyida Zainb (AS)
  • 13th Jumada al-Awwal (Jan. 20th) – Death of Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra (AS)
