We invite all students and parents to participate in the practice sessions to perfect their recitation.

Dates. April 4th to April 8th, 2022

Timings 6pm to 7pm PST (California) time.

Monday April 4th – Surah Fil
Tuesday April 5th – Surah Adiyat
Wednesday April 6th – Surah Tariq
Thursday April 7th – Surah Balad
Friday April 8th – Surah Muminun

Rules and Criteria

Rules and Criteria

  1. Competition is only open to Southern California Shia Muslims between the ages of 4 and 18.
  2. All categories need to memorize Surah except category ‘E’.
  3. Participants may opt to compete at one age category higher. This doesn’t apply to categories ‘D’ and ‘E’.
  4. Participants must memorize their age-appropriate Surah with proper pronunciation, tajweed, and recitation etiquette. Participants may opt to compete at one age category higher.
  5. Judges will evaluate each participants entry for:
    1. Recitation using proper etiquette
    2. Clarity and proper annunciation of Arabic sound
    3. Appropriate application of Tajweed rules and
    4. Overall pronunciation
  6. Results will be announced on April 27th, 2022

Video Submission Guidelines:

  1. Record your video in landscape mode (not portrait)
  2. Observe appropriate Islamic attire.
  3. Record your submission in good lighting with your face and mouth clearly visible, for judging purposes.
  4. Your voice must be clearly heard with no background noise.
  5. Microphones may be used but voices may not be modified using computer software.
  6. Submissions must be made by 4/17/2022 11:59 pm PST.
