On behalf of the Shia Muslim Council of Southern California, I would like to extend my best wishes to you on this blessed and joyous day of Eid. Eid Mubarak!

‏This day marks the significance of sacrifice during Hajj, where millions of Muslims from around the world gathered together in worship and praise of The Lord. To this end, we must aspire to remain in unity of one nation, and one Community. While the day is indeed for celebration with family, friends and community, we must remember those who are suffering in poverty, tyranny, conflict and sickness.  As we continue to  pray for the Muslims and non-Muslims who are in hardship,  we must also actively commit to do our part to make a difference in our societies:  be it in righting a wrong; be it by way of charity or be it through activism in pursuing social justice causes.

‏Let us not forget to connect with our neighbors and family whom we have ignored, and let us make a concerted effort to visit the ill, the aged and the bereaved, who need our emotional and moral support.  And finally I ask you to remember those who were with us last year and have now proceeded to our Lord.

‏May all your prayers be answered, as well as the efforts of our pilgrims be accepted inshallah.
