Launch of Shia Muslim Council of Southern California

On Wednesday, September 17th, 2014, IECOC hosted a meeting to formally launch the newly-established Shia Muslim Council of Southern California (SMC).

The Shia Muslim Council of Southern California (SMC) is an independent umbrella organization that has been developed in coordination with a number of Shia Muslim Islamic centers and mosques in the Southern California region. The main objective of this council is to provide a platform for the centers and organizations to foster unity and promote the religious, educational, and social advancement of the Shia Muslim communities based in Southern California. Additionally, SMC will strive to promote cooperation, intra-, and inter-faith dialogue and understanding, and various issues related to the larger Muslim community in the region and nation.

We pray to the Most Merciful to give this newly-established organization the capacity to promote unity, harmony, and cooperation within the Shia, as well as larger Muslim and non-Muslim community.
