The next generation of Muslim leaders is here, and they are telling our stories with courage.
On Saturday, September 26, the Shia Muslim Council of Southern California attended the @islamicscholarshipfund 2026 Annual Southern California Banquet in Anaheim. The evening celebrated ISF scholarship recipients and film grant recipients who are shaping policy, law, media, and film. We are proud to support Muslim filmmakers using their craft to tell our communities' stories. Some of these films will bear witness to the unprovoked attacks on Muslim countries and the devastation they have left behind. Through these stories, people who are rarely heard can be heard, and audiences can see the human cost of war.
We were also honored to meet some of the brightest ISF scholarship recipients and fellows, including Salmah Rizvi (@salmahyrizvi), Ebrahim Bharmal, Ulaa Kuziez (@ulaathejourna) , and Mustafa Alemi. Their commitment to justice, public service, and truthful storytelling reflects values we hold dear: knowledge, integrity, and service to humanity. May Allah (SWT) bless their efforts and grant them continued success.
Support the next generation of Muslim storytellers and leaders, and share this with your community.

One year ago, we came together as one community, and the spirit of that night still moves us forward.
Last year, more than 500 community leaders, friends, and families gathered to celebrate the Shia Muslim Council's 10th Anniversary. Keynote speaker Mehdi Hasan reminded us how the prophetic tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) speaks to the challenges of our time. Guest speaker Dr. Mahjabeen Dhala inspired us with her reflections. Together, their message was clear: speak truth to power, uplift the marginalized, and empower voices for a better future.
We kept this video for this moment. Watch it and remember the energy in the room, the faces of friends and family side by side, and the shared resolve that filled the hall. A decade of service was only the beginning. As we begin our second decade, this video reminds us why we started and why we keep going. Following the example of Imam Hussein (AS), we keep standing for truth and justice, together.
Thank you to every guest, sponsor, volunteer, and partner who continues to work with us to carry the mission forward.

Thirty years of standing for justice, dignity, and

Thirty years of standing for justice, dignity, and civil rights for all.
On Saturday, October 3, the Shia Muslim Council of Southern California was honored to join @cairgla and close to 1,700 community members at CAIR-LA's 30th Annual Gala at the Anaheim Marriott. For three decades, CAIR-LA has stood on the frontlines against Islamophobia and every form of hate. It has defended the civil rights of American Muslims and worked for equity for every community it serves.
We were especially moved to hear from keynote speaker Ana Kasparian @anakasparianofficial. She spoke with courage and moral clarity about speaking truth, defending the vulnerable, and refusing to stay silent when justice is at stake. Her words echo a principle at the heart of our faith: standing for what is right, even when it is difficult. We congratulate CAIR-LA on this milestone and on an inspiring evening of unity and purpose.
